About the Summit of Love

A high-level gathering. A meeting of the minds. A summit, perhaps.

Ah, yes, that was it — a summit indeed! And, thus, a name was born. The Summit of Love (a play off the legendary "Summer of Love") was created, for no other reason than it sounded good.

They realize now, in their sobriety, that the name has certain, well, overtones. Nonetheless, the name stuck and it has spawned an annual tradition. In the following years, the group — in some form or another — has gathered at exotic locales across the world to pursue good food and discuss questionable business ventures.

• In 1999, it was Melbourne (they tell people it was Australia).
  
• In 2000, it was Kansas City.
• In 2001, they're off to the Windy City.
  

And rest assured with the satisfaction that these people — these true patriots, these pioneers of the American enterprising spirit — have a lot of fun doing it.
